Terms & Conditions
1. Welcome to Just Dive In CIC www.just-dive.co.uk
1.1
Just Dive In CIC is an entirely new offering in Scotland — a charitable, community-focused aquatic organisation created to support everyone, including those with autism, ASN, ADHD, poor physical health, and poor mental health.
We specialise in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where participants learn at their own pace. All instructors are trained in trauma-informed swim teaching, ensuring every person is met with understanding, care, and sensitivity.
1.2
Many participants join us with deadly fears of the water, long-held phobias, deep insecurities, or previous traumatic experiences. We support every person through these challenges gently, safely, and without judgement.
Because we operate private, exclusive-use facilities — with quiet, separate changing areas, controlled sensory input, and no general public access — we offer a truly safe space in every sense of the word. This is something no other swim school in the area can currently provide and is transformative for individuals living with anxiety, neurodivergence, trauma, or confidence difficulties.
Our centre also includes relaxed tea and coffee areas for families, and dedicated children’s play spaces, allowing participants to settle before sessions and decompress afterwards. We warmly accommodate those who need extra time either side of lessons — because transitions matter, and feeling calm matters.
This private, warm, sensory-aware, deeply supportive environment is why many families describe Just Dive as pure magic.
1.3
We are a small, specialist team of six, with qualifications across swimming (baby, child, adult, ASN), scuba diving, snorkelling, mermaid instruction, competitive swimming, trauma-informed practice, and inclusive teaching. You may see different instructors throughout your block, but every team member teaches to the same high Just Dive Standard.
1.4
We are Scotland’s first and only combined sensory, hydrotherapy, mainstream swimming and scuba school, operating a dedicated warm-water pool heated to 34 °C — unique in the local area.
1.5
The Directors of Just Dive In CIC are Laura Hamilton and her hardworking husband, Euan. We are not wealthy benefactors — this entire venture, including the build, pool, equipment, training, and operational setup, has been personally and entirely self-funded. Every booking directly supports the charity’s ongoing work.
1.6
We are aligned with both SSI and PADI, and our professional insurance covers every person in the building, in and out of the water.
2. Our Professional Standards (SSI & DAN) Visit SSI For more info - DAN or PADI
2.1
We operate under the strict educational and safety standards of SSI (Scuba Schools International).
2.2
We are regulated and insured by DAN Europe (Divers Alert Network) — a global leader in aquatic safety.
2.3
We consistently deliver above the required standards set by SSI and DAN.
3. The Just Dive Standard – Our Unique Approach
3.1
We do not simply teach strokes — we teach confidence, emotional regulation, and genuine water competence.
3.2
All instructors follow the same structured curriculum and safety framework.
3.3 Core Milestones Participants Work Toward
- Independent back floating
- Safe, controlled treading water
- “Float to Live” emergency techniques
- Breath control & calm-water regulation
- Submersion, buoyancy awareness & gliding
- Progressive, safe stroke development
3.4 Technique First — Not Distance
Distance alone is not a reliable indicator of swimming competence.
Many participants report being able to swim 25 metres, yet when demonstrating, we often observe poor buoyancy, unsafe breathing, panic-based movement, incorrect body position, or exhaustion.
Swimming 25 metres with poor technique is not water safety.
Our method — shaped by decades of waterborne experience — ensures participants develop steady breathing, correct alignment, safe buoyancy, efficient movement, emotional regulation, and true water confidence.
When these foundations are secure, distance becomes effortless and safe.
We strongly encourage families not to use distance as a measure of progress.
4. Lesson Structure – 8-Week Blocks
4.1
All swimming programmes run in 8-week blocks.
4.2
Participants may graduate early if milestone skills are achieved sooner.
4.3
Those requiring additional time may continue for up to 24 weeks.
4.4
This block structure ensures fairness, consistency, and meaningful progress.
5. Holiday & Term Dates
5.1
Term dates and breaks are provided at booking and at the start of each term.
5.2
These dates apply specifically to Just Dive In CIC HQ.
6. Instructor Allocation
6.1
Instructor allocation may vary as we are a small, specialist team. However, every member of our team is highly trained, trauma-informed, and teaches to the same structured Just Dive Standard, ensuring consistent, excellent instruction regardless of who delivers the session.
Although we try to accommodate instructor preferences where possible, we do not encourage participants to work with only one instructor. Supporting individuals — especially those with autism, ASN, ADHD, anxiety, or trauma — to manage transitions, build trust with more than one adult, and feel safe with different instructors is a core part of our service model.
Every Just Dive instructor is heavily vetted, trained, monitored, and audited.
We guarantee 100% excellent service with every instructor.
7. Payments & Bookings
7.1
All 8-week blocks must be paid in advance to secure a place.
7.2
Once booked, a space is reserved exclusively for that participant and cannot be resold. Our group, 1:1, and small 2:1 lesson dynamics are carefully planned, taking into account ability levels, sensory needs, confidence, safety ratios, and class flow.
Because of this, replacing one participant with another is often not feasible, as it can disrupt the stability and progress of others in the class.
For these reasons, refunds cannot be offered once a space is confirmed.
7.3
Where availability allows, we will offer catch-up sessions within the same block.
7.4
Sickness requires 24 hours’ notice to be considered for a catch-up.
7.5
We will always try to support families experiencing financial pressure. Please speak to us confidentially.
7.6
Returning participants receive a 48-hour priority booking window.
8. Refunds & Cancellations
8.1
Booking commits significant resources from the charity: instructor wages, pool heating to 34 °C, chemical and filtration systems, and fixed operational costs. Spaces cannot be refilled mid-term.
8.2
For these reasons, refunds and credits cannot be offered once a block is booked or underway.
8.3
Missed sessions cannot be transferred to future blocks.
8.4
If Just Dive In CIC cancels a class, a catch-up within the block will be offered where possible.
8.5
If you don't show up to a class with telling us prior and if the notice is given within 24hrs of the session we will not provide a catch-up for the missed session. If you aren't able to make the lesson and its out with 24hrs, we will offer a catch-up if we have the space to do so.
9. Private Lessons
9.1
Must be paid in advance.
9.2
Refunds only if pre-agreed.
9.3
Catch-ups may be arranged where availability allows.
10. Adverse Weather
10.1
If Just Dive cancels due to weather, a catch-up or credit will be issued.
10.2
If a participant cannot attend due to weather, we understand this may be unavoidable. Refunds cannot be offered, but early notice is appreciated and we will always try to work with you.
11. Medical Guidance
11.1
Do not attend within 48 hours of fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, or contagious illness.
11.2
Long-term medical needs may be discussed with the team.
11.3
Participants with autism, ADHD, or other neurodivergent needs must complete our Neurodivergence Scale Assessment.
12. Participant Behaviour
12.1
We are a training provider, not a childcare service.
12.2
Participants must behave safely and respectfully.
12.3
If behaviour disrupts learning, we will speak with the parent/guardian.
12.4
Continued disruption may result in removal from the programme.
